Knowing how to pose people makes a huge difference in how they will look in your images.

 

Here are a few still images that illustrate these techniques demonstrated in the video above.

Your subject doesn’t always have to look right at the camera. Placing the hands on hips shows off a more defined waist line

Placing hands in pockets and thumbs out gives a nice natural break to the arm line

Have your subjects stand at a 45 degree angle instead of straight on towards the camera. Also don’t cut them off at their joints like in image A.

Have couples look at each other instead of only looking at the camera

Have big groups sit in multiple rows with levels instead of long straight lines
